India is known for its rich cultural heritage and its indigenous cows. This breed of cows is only found in India, which makes it more special. Cows have always been part of the Indian culture, and it has also played a key part in the agricultural growth of the country, from ploughing to providing manure.
In this blog, we are going to explain why our cows are special and the importance of NGO for cows in Ahmedabad.

Ignorant Towards Cow Care
Cows have been very helpful in agriculture and transportation. They also provide milk, which is used for other products like ghee, dahi, and paneer. These products are regularly consumed in thousands of houses. In India, cows are given the title of "gau mata" (mother cow) and are also considered sacred. But, in modern times, people have become very ignorant towards cows and have stopped taking care of them.
Globalisation of Indigenous Cows
With the rise of globalisation and commercialisation, many people started believing that cows of foreign breeds were of better quality and provided more nutritious milk as compared to Indian cows. This mindset led to the extinction of over 120 breeds of Indian cows, and now only 30 breeds remain.
A2 Milk
The quality of milk that indigenous cows produce is very nutritious compared to that of other mix-breed cows from foreign countries. Indian cows like Hallikar and Gir are known to provide milk that has A2 protein, which helps in preventing coronary disease and eliminates lactose intolerance.
Importance in the Ecosystem
The dung of indigenous cows also helps maintain balance in the ecosystem. The digested organic matter can be used as a manure for crops. As a result, the need for chemical fertilisers is eliminated, thereby promoting healthy agricultural practices. Additionally, cow dung is also an excellent source of renewable energy.
Conclusion
As you can see, our desi cows hold immense importance in our culture, health, and the ecosystem. These cows must be protected and taken care of at all costs. You can contribute to their preservation by donating to an NGO like Manav Kartavya. For the preservation of cows, they are considered the best NGO in Ahmedabad.
